Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Lakeview-Mayfield is a neighbourhood within Burnaby, British Columbia.


The car is very often the favoured approach to move around in Lakeview-Mayfield. Parking is generally easy, and most properties for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway. On the other hand, getting around by transit can be sometimes challenging in Lakeview-Mayfield as a result of the service's low frequency. Thankfully, house owners are served by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually a short walk away. This part of the city is not very bicycling-friendly since bicycle riders are faced with quite a few elevation changes, and there are few bike lanes. There also aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of Lakeview-Mayfield, despite the fact that running daily errands is easy on foot.


It is often feasible for house buyers in this neighbourhood to do grocery shopping on foot. In addition, this part of Burnaby is a fairly good place in which to eat out, for example on Canada Way. In terms of education, families will find that wherever their property is located in this neighbourhood, primary schools and daycares are nearby. On the other hand, this part of the city does not contain any high schools.


Home buyers who prefer a calm ambience will enjoy Lakeview-Mayfield. Most areas in this neighbourhood are quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - however some parts can be quite loud, especially closer to Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, it is very easy to access green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in.


In Lakeview-Mayfield, around half of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses are the main housing types in the rest of the housing stock. About 40% of properties in this part of Burnaby were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the remainder are renters.
