The neighbourhood of West Central Valley can be found in the city of Burnaby, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

West Central Valley provides property owners with the choice between several means of transportation. Thanks to 2 rapid transit stations (Brentwood Town Centre Station and Gilmore Station) with access to the Millennium Skytrain, and about 10 nearby bus lines, the public transit system in this part of the city is reasonably good. West Central Valley is also a fairly pleasant part of Burnaby for pedestrians; many common errands can be run without the use of a car. Biking is challenging in West Central Valley since riding is made arduous by the typically hilly area, and there are very few bike lanes.

Services

It is a reasonably short walk to reach daycares and schools from any location in West Central Valley. As far as food is concerned, it is typically feasible for house buyers in this neighbourhood to buy their groceries on foot. In addition, there are a good number of choices in close proximity for those who value restaurants and cafes. It is also a reasonably short distance to a decent choice of clothing stores.

Character

Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in West Central Valley. There are a few green spaces close by for residents to visit, such as Still Creek Conservation Area, which makes it very easy to access them. Finally, due to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, this part of the city remains relatively quiet; however those who are around the railway line or Trans-Canada Highway may experience more noise.

Housing

In West Central Valley, about three quarters of buildings are large apartment buildings, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of Burnaby is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly 70% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented. This part of the city experienced its most significant construction boom following the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this era.
